Speigler / LSL
bar Conversion: Hollywood
08/2003
After a lot of cussing, fussing and generally disassembling
just about every part of the bike except motor removal, I've
finally got the conversion complete to the 1-1/8", top mounted
handlebars.
The kit does away with the stock clipons and stock top
tripleclamp and replaces the top tripleclamp with a machined
piece of Art. The new bars then mount on top of the
tripleclamp similar to the naked sv1k.

Renthal bars on
Sid Squid's naked 02/2004: I have Renthal alloy bars on my naked
SV1000 - I changed them because I found the originals curved
back a little too far and turned my wrists outwards further
than I liked.
My
bike is black so I got blue bars, looks good I thinkThe
brace is a separate part which costs about £15 in the UK.

The bars I chose
are about the same rise as the originals so everything went
back on as standard. I decided not to change the riding
position, I think it's good to start with, just to change the
curve of the hand position.
I looked at various other bar positions and I reckon that you
could probably fit bars up to 1 1/2" higher or perhaps 2"
wider, (but not both), with the standard cables and hoses.
Look
here: www.renthal.com - mine are the ultra low, in blue,
narrowed about 1 1/4" each end, which turned out to be about
the original width, give or take a 1/4".
The lower half of the switchgear has locating pins which fit
into holes in the bars, I cut them off as I didn't want to
drill holes in the new bars. There is no problem with this, the
switches clamp up fine onto the bars and don't move.

ABM bar
conversion: knaapie - I bought a ABM
handlebar conversion kit about two weeks ago and last weekend
it has been mounted. I intend to share my experiences with you
with the help of some photo’s (of which some are a bit
blurry... Sorry). As I have a SV650, some things will not be
similar with the SV1000, but I try to mention the differences
in..................

Never Use Aluminium Fittings On Braking Systems
(extract from HEL's website)
Some people sell aluminium brake line fittings for brake hoses.
Not only is this a dangerous practice but you will also notice that
they are normally sold with a 'for race use only' label as a
possible legal get out clause for the company involved.
HEL Performance have never and will never use aluminium fittings on
brake lines - Why ? When two metals with different electromotive
force are placed together and are subjected to an electrically
conductive fluid, 'electrolytic' corrosion takes place. If you are
looking for a light weight, corrosion resistant high strength
alternative to stainless steel then we suggest you check out the HEL
Performance Titanium fitting AndyW: Anodised
aluminium / aluminium fittings are for competition use only and are
not legal for road use in the UK.
