Suzuki Gel Seat

There's been mixed reactions to these seats varying between a bit 'luke warm' at best to down right disappointed.  Adverse comments relate to cost against the apparent small benefit some riders feel and that many (all?) of the covers on the gel seats 'ruck' up because of the tight fit of the front of the seat against the tank. It appears that they're no longer available in the UK (11/2004) but Onieda Suzuki still advertise them us$110.

CARE: If you're ordering one of these.....there are differences between the subframes on the 'S' and 'N' models and there may also be changes in the subframes on year 2003 / 2004 / 2005.

Rogfog 03/2004:
Comparative shots as promised - you can see the "front " of the gel seat is wider than the standard -I thin k it's a bit comfier but have yet to test it long distance.

Still wrinkles and is a pain to fit as you have to squash the front of the seat forward to get the mount holes to align.

Other than that seems OK.

Rogfog update 07/2004:
Perhaps I have a different shaped bottom to everybody else because I think it's much better - probably 75-80% than the original.

Less knife-shaped and wider and flatter - a 220 mile haul up to Liverpool (and 220 miles back) for the TT and a week doing over 750 miles on the Island with no complaints at all in the derriere stakes!

Get's my vote - true the "gel" doesn't seem to give much more than stock foam but the revised shape is so much better.

Bought mine from Oneida in the US and bought it back with me after a business visit - with the exchange rate cost about £60.00.

BJAM 03/2004 For those of you who wish to see the excellent wrinkle effect!:

You shouldn't have to do this but you can get rid of the 'wrinkles'.........

CottsSVS 04/2004:
You have to remove the nasty fat piece of foam from under the front lip of the seat and replace it with something about a 10th of the thickness, once you've done that re-glue the thin foam cover, stretch out the cover and re-staple and hey presto, no more wrinkles and the seat bolts into place without any force what so ever, just like the original. Took it for a test of about 60 miles last weekend and it is a big improvement on the original, no more numb cheeks !!
Still don't think it's right that you have to do this to a genuine Suzuki accessory but it was a present and it does look good now !
