Corroded oil cooler banjo connectors?

I'm the lucky b**tard that got the stainless steel oil cooler hoses from Goodridge (previous thread refers)

Anyway, having just got my bike back from the NEC show where it was on the Skidmarx stand (thanks Alan!!) I just put the hoses on - no probs!

Looking at the OEM ones they are severely corroded for a years worth of dry (mainly) riding and the love and attention lavished on my pride and joy.

To overcome this do the following :-

1. You will need 'leccy drill; WORN circular metal brush drill attachment; polishing cloth drill attachment; Solvol Autosol (or similar metal polish).

2. Fix drill in vertical pillar mount or clamp in vice - not too tight/not too loose!

3. CAREFULLY use metal brush attachment to remove corrosion/ark grey finish (Suzuki standard).

4. Apply Autosol sparingly and use polishing attachment.

5. Buy/beg/steal/borrow VHT clear lacquer, spray ends and 'set' with hair dryer on low heat.

6. Hey presto - 'polished' fittings!! For results see 'before' and 'after' piccies below.

A few tips:
1. Don't get your fingers too close to the wire brush on the 'leccy drill - it F**king HURTS!!!!
2. After polishing but before spraying with clear lacquer either wipe metal fittings with cellulose thinners OR spray with brake/carb cleaner. (lint free cloth helps)
3. Allow to dry thoroughly before spraying.
4. Use 'her indoors' hairdryer on low heat to 'cure' lacquer - harder/brighter finish.

Here's a bike (SV650) that is sorely in need of this job, not to mention Chewy's engine bolt kit! Even if your SV is in use all year round there's no need for it to get this bad.....WD40, FS365, Waxoil, Winter Wax etc......apply to the bike liberally after every wash (watch out for brakes!)
