in it's entirety if you just want to get shot of the snow shovel.
Here is my step by step guide for beginners who may not be used to
spannering but still want to give it a go themselves.
Step 1: Remove your rear seat with the ignition key (you
don't really want a picture to show you how to do this do you?)
Step 2: Remove the frame covers held on with a single Allen
bolt and hooked into rubber mountings top left and top right. Give
them a gentle pull and wriggle, they will come off.
Step 3: Undo the two Allen bolts that retain the front seat
and remove.
Step 4: Remove the two bolts retaining the pillion rider
handle.
Step 5: Remove the two screws next to the seat lock cable.
Step 6: Undo the two screws next to the battery.
Step 7: Undo the single screw and pop fastener in the middle
of the seat tail cover. To remove the pop fastener push the centre
until it pops in and then remove the fastener from the hole. Make
sure you push the centre pin out before you refit.
Step 8: Remove the four pop fasteners underneath the seat
tail cover.
Step 9: Remove the allen bolt retaining the seat lock cable.
Push the white plastic guide up and out of its retainer and take the
nipple out of its holder.
Step 10: Although not really necessary you can undo the two
pop fasteners illustrated to remove some of the strain for removal.
Step 11: Disconnect the brake light and tail light lead wire
couplers. Look carefully and you will see how they connect and how
they can be undone.
Step 12: Slide and lift the entire seat tail cover off the
bike and put it somewhere safe.
Step 13: The undertray is held on with four bolts. Remove the
two bolts at the back.
Step 14: And remove the two bolts at the front that may be
hiding under your wiring loom.
Step 15: Now its time to remove some of the electrical
components. Firstly unclip the tip-over sensor in front of the
battery tray. There is no need to disconnect it.
Step 16: Now disconnect your battery remembering to
disconnect the negative cable first. Remove the battery.
Step 17: Unplug the ECM module (long and thin case behind the
battery). Be very careful, don't touch any of the connectors and put
it somewhere very safe. In fact, treat it like a bottle of vintage
single-malt, but don't drink it
Step 18: Remove the fuse box, fuel pump relay, air-pressure
sensor and starter motor relay.
Step 19: Unhook the undertray from the four plastic lugs
where you removed the bolts, slide it forward and take it off.
Step 20: Now disconnect the turn signal lights and number
plate light lead wire couplers.
Step 21: Look underneath and you will see four bolts holding
the fug-ugly rear mudguard in place. Undo them with a satisfying
grin as once they are off the mudguard will drop to the ground (mind
your foot) and you can place it in the trash or that pile of
discarded items at the back of the garage.
Step 22: Stand back and admire your stripped to the bone
rear-end.
