SV1000 Seat Mods

I've just got my seat back from Bum Wraps (UK tel 01243 861510) who have done some mods for me. I've had about an inch of padding added to it, to increase comfort and give me a bit more legroom (I'm 6'2").

They've done a really good job and I can't wait to give it a try but it's bloody cold at the mo! I'll post feedback when I've road tested it properly.

They'll do any seat mods you need. They'll take padding off, too - a shortarse mate of mine had the seat on his Duc Monster lowered by them. On the Monster they took away a lot of the standard padding and replaced it with thinner but better quality padding, therefore the seat is lower and more comfortable.

My seat rebuild was £79 which included a new 3-piece cover, the foam work and delivery by courier. It took them about a week to do. The profile is much rounder than it was. I've not tried the Suzuki Gel seat but I'd read mixed reports so thought I'd try this.

I have loved this bike, great feel and power. I also hate the seat.

I got brave and took the seat off. I then took a new hacksaw blade and cut the pad from the back to the front. Started the cut real light and got deeper as I went. I cut about 22-25 mm at the deepest point. I finished at the front of the seat bringing the cut back to the original height. Did some trimming with A razor and found I was not able to finish the surface very well.

I took the seat and cover to a auto interior shop where they sanded the pad and added a small layer of foam and staple the stock cover back on. They charged me $25.00 for the work they did, not bad I thought. I hope this can help some of you who also feel the seat is lacking and don't want to spend a lot of money.
