Eddii's SV1000:

First thing you're going to notice is that sexy underseat exhaust so we'll start there.

  • Exhaust details- 2" mandrel bent s/steel pipes

  • Fabricated mid muffler (below the engine)

  • Fabricated 2 into 1 system

  • HPC coated in hiper black

  • Yoshimura RS5 to suit CBR1000RR

  • Fabricated reg plate bracket

Take a look here for photos of the various bits

Basically, the front header pipe travels below the engine through a bespoke mid muffler then heads up to the swingarm to a tee where it joins to the rear header pipe. From there it sneaks up around the battery compartment (saves remounting the battery and ECU) through to the rear muffler. Eddii had to make room for the muffler by cutting the plastics where the luggage space was and made up a bracket to bolt the muffler to the subframe.

K4 gsxr600/750 headlight conversion details:
Fabricated some brackets to bolt to existing headlight mounts. Had to remove the steering damper cause it fouls up the new headlight.

Other mods

Polished wheels, powdercoated swingarm and subframe, Metisse radiator guard, crash knobs (frame and radiator), Kuryakyn mirrors/indicators.

I had to ditch most of the exhaust. I kept the front half and installed a mid muffler (just in case it was too loud w/ RS5). I learned some lesson on my old TLR underseat exhaust and I don't want it to be too loud this time - the sound is unique!!! A little bit quieter than drilled stock cans just right.

The most painful part to do were the polished wheels - had to painfully polish them by hand. The exhaust/headlight took 2 months to do mainly due to Christmas holidays and the HPC coating shop was closed till late January but in the end it's all worth the effort...

Now 4 the tech side:

Exhaust- all 2" s/s mandrel bend pipes, made the mid muffler to tame it down a tad bit . All tig welded. The front pipe is longer than the rear pipe. I didn't bother on making them equal cause of limited space available also it's a lot easier to make. I wasn't worried about how much power I'd loose cause the system is more free flowing than standard. In the end, it didn't feel any different compared to the old system (only quieter ). I wouldn't mind a dyno run though but it's too far away from where I live.
I didn't have to relocate the batteries or computer, just cut out the lil cargo space and tool box holder.

Headlight- just made up some brackets to to fit the front end. Used existing headlight brackets (one attached to the forks)

Swing arm/ subframe - powder coated in scratch resistant black. Had it nearly a year now and still no scratches, was gonna do the frame as well, but it'll be too black.......and mainly I'm too lazy.

Polished wheels- never again. too much work!

Besides purchasing parts new (rs5, gix headlight, guards etc.), the rest of the exhaust sys cost:

Au$120 - pipes
Au$160 - HPC coating

I spent less money to do the exhaust than buying two slip ons! I spent a lot of time fabricating it though.
