Some facts and figures (2004 season)

Well its winter here but a sure sign of spring is that I sent my entry fees in for the AHRMA races at Daytona. I will run in the Battle of the Twins Formula 1 and Sound of Thunder classes. I had to repair my exhaust after last season and I'll change the oil and give it the once over but I'm about ready to go. I'm going to take my street bike and do up bike week too.

Some facts and figures (2004 season):

SV1000 horsepower readings: The SV Cup is horsepower and weight limited. A dyno was available to check your bike before the race and the top five were impounded after the race and checked. Max allowable is 125 HP. The dyno guy told me the highest he saw was 118, which was not the leader's bike. One of the Bell's Suzuki bikes was 114 on pump gas. Another guy had one at 109. Mine was 105 and another was 102. All were essentially pipe and power commander equipped. Some had been mapped (not mine, that will be done this winter for sure)

Weight: There was a set of race scales available to weight your bike and again the top five were weighed after the race. No one was DQ'ed on either weight or horsepower. The minimum is 410 pounds. Mine was 415 with about a half a tank of gas, probably one of the lighter bikes. The Bell's bikes were about 419. I filled my tank up before the race just to make sure.

173 MPH: The highest speed I saw on my speedometer!!! I was geared two up in the rear which works out to about 165 MPH. Pretty freakin' cool to see a 7 in that second digit, and I saw it a couple of times. The fastest I saw all season before this was 164.

Miles raced this summer: about 900 on the SV in seven weekends plus two weekends on the EX while the SV was being fixed. More miles than I put on my street bike.
Sets of tires used: 5
Miles driven to the races: Over 8000
Money spent: I don't even want to know!
