A couple of my favourites...both of which are relatively
expensive but I've been so impressed and my life has been made so
much easier that I reckon these are good investments (both featured
in the Forum's

ARE Hydraulic Workbench
www.are.ltd.uk/
....god I love this thing! (a boon
for people like me with bad backs!)
Any service work on the bikes has to date meant aching stiff back
and sore knee joints for me........NO MORE! I couldn't believe
how much easier working on the bikes is and how much quicker I do
any work with the bike raised to waist height.
The construction of the workbench is sturdy and it does exactly what
it says on the box!

MCN PRODUCT OF THE YEAR 2003 (ACCESSORY)
Protect your bike from rust and road salt -
Scottoiler FS 365 is a blend of mineral oil, anti-corrosion
additives and water. These form a stable micro-solution, which
you simply spray on your bike. It evaporates leaving a fine film
which clings, especially to those hard-to-reach areas in the
engine, suspension and behind faired panels. After a wet run,
you can re-apply in moments. FS 365 is water soluble and
inherently biodegradable, so it’s good for your bike and good
for the environment (but needs to be reapplied regularly in wet
weather). Spray on liberally after washing the bike (avoiding
brake parts!!), leave a while, then dry the bike as usual

Abba Stand
the bike is extremely steady and secure
on this and you can get the front off the ground as well with the
aid of a jack.
Not cheap but extremely well made and a
brilliant stand - ideal for suspension work as the swingarm hangs
free.

Hein Gericke Motorbike Cleaner - for years I
used AutoGlym Motorcycle cleaner until I saw a review of bike
cleaners in a bike mag. I reckon this stuff is as good as
the AutoGlym product but 5ltrs works out about 1/4 the price!
Still swear by AutoGlym polishes (as recommended by Jaguar and
Porsche!) and their Car Shampoo with waxes and rust preventative
additives.
You either need a spray bottle or a spray head with
a long hose to use effectively. It lifts grease and road grime
well, with just a gentle use of a brush to shift the most
stubborn deposits round areas like the sprocket. When hosed
down, the degreaser shifts smear free and only minor cleaning is
needed to mop up the left-overs.
This stuff is so good I dilute it slightly before use! Gloves
are recommended - the stuff is a skin irritant. |
